Preferences and Tourism Development under Uncertainty: An Empirical Study

Using the Global Preferences Survey dataset, this paper examines effects of six measures preferences (altruism, negative reciprocity, patience, positive risk-taking, and trust) on per capita international tourist arrivals incoming receipts. The data focus 74 countries for period from 1995 to 2019. finds that citizens’ trust is positively related tourism development, its impact statistically significant.
